Fees, Bursaries & Auditions

The Venue

Our next workshop, in 2022, will be non-residential, and take place at Bishops Diocesan College in Cape Town. The facilities here are excellent with full use of their music rooms and halls. The catering is superb with morning and afternoon teas as well as lunch and supper provided.

Fees & Application

The cost of the Workshop, which includes full catering, and professional tuition, will be R1,600.

Bursaries

A limited number of partial bursaries are available. Should you require a bursary, please state your need in a letter to be submitted with your application.

Auditions

Numbers will be limited, so it is essential to apply before Monday 15th August. If there are places available, qualifying auditions will take place on Saturday 20th August: you will be informed of venues and times. Please note that some applicants who have attended previously and who wish to reapply for a position may be required to do an audition at the discretion of the organisers.
All applicants will be informed on receipt of their application as to whether an audition is required or not.

Audition requirements: 2 pieces contrasting in style and tempo (accompaniment optional); Scales and Arpeggios from your present Grade in music; Sight Reading appropriate to your grade.

Out of province applicants who are not known to the organizers, and who are not able to audition for designated out of town teachers, must provide correct contact details of their current teacher(s). Upon request of the organisers, a WhatsApp or similar video of the audition pieces plus a selection of scales and arpeggios must be supplied before the final date of auditions Saturday 20th August

All applicants will be informed by email or telephone as to acceptance into the workshop. Reservations are then confirmed upon receipt of a R1000 deposit. You will be advised of electronic transfer details in due course.

N.B. Those who are applying for the first time...As part of submitting an application you are requested to write a short accompanying letter explaining in your own words why you wish to attend the course, and what you hope to gain by it by the end of the week. Please do this with great mindfulness and attention to what is motivating you to be a worthy participant in this unique opportunity.
